The clubbing scene in general is shallow. I think it's certainly supposed to be shallow... at least that's the only kind of ambiance I think is possible in a place like that.

Your as shallow as you want to be.
You can have 'true' friends in the club scene. Friends who care if your there, if your okay and if you need help. However, that's up to you to find these people and nourish these relationships. No friendship is easy and shouldn't be. But, I always had friends when going out that would take care of me if I drank to much, even if I wasn't "with them." Even the Managers of the clubs would put me in their offices or special rooms so that I could rest to be safe. I guess I was just lucky to find these people and have them for friends.

The "Gay" scene is not "shallow". It is the people who exploit it for their own ends who are in actual fact the shallow element.

I have never tried the gay scene so I cannot tell you what it is like. I am more shallow when it comes to guys because there is a certain type that I like and only a small percentage of them I find attractive. And most of them are straight anyway. :(

It is shallow to the extreme which is why I avoid the gay scene. I don't go clubbing because it makes me ill watching guys make total twats of themselves.

Any scene can be shallow . . . gay, hetero, lez, bi, tg. It is not shallow to go clubbing . . . how ever it is more fun to be a shallow sl-ut puppy when clubbing.
