My nipples are normally medium pink, but during the summer when I spend a lot of time at the nude beach they tend to darken a bit. It's probably an interaction of the sun and the pigment within the nipple.
I've also heard that nipples will darken during pregnancy.

yeah that happens, especially when they are aroused, either by coldness or by being touched...
usually it "erects" or gets harder and it turns darker then when its normal and soft and light colored.

when they get erect the areola shrinks causing them to get darker or if your tanning naked they darken, or ya might be dying!?!?
