By stating that she "she doesn't need white's for her new school in Africa" She's a racist !! Why didn't she open a 30 million dollar academy here in the states. All of a sudden all the entertainers think that they have to adopt children from the African nations, like it's the "IN" thing to do.

The Academy’s purpose is to offer academically talented girls an opportunity to develop their full intellectual, social, and leadership potential. To be eligible to attend, girls must be South African, academically talented, able to demonstrate leadership qualities, and come from a disadvantaged family or community.
The 152 girls starting school in 2007 are entering grades 7 and 8. They make up what will be the Academy’s first graduating class. By inviting what appears to be only one white girl Oprah is attracting controversy, she is bating the press to see if anyone writes anything negtive about her, by leaving her options open she may invite more white girls which will in effect shut up her critics and say I told you so.

If this what Oprah intends to do with this white girl then you can hardly regard Oprah as motherely as she parades her around. She may feel like a token even if she does not verbalise it to Oprah, so rather unkind I think and a different side to Oprah is revealed somewhat cruel either way.
This girl needs her white peers now does she not at this teenage age, I mean after all she is past basic care like potty training and going from liquids to solids. This white girl needs her white freinds too but she has none compared to the black girls who have what appears to be 150 black freinds to enrich their heritage knowledge.

I would like to know the race/age of all of the children who applied for an application in South Africa-....And I just found out today-that she has 1 white girl who was accepted....I know people say she can do what she wants with her money-it is a free society; but I would have liked to see Ms. Winfrey open up a school for worldwide applications for girls-into a school and then base her decision on the applications worldwide; I think she would have been more respected in that aspect; She preaches diversity; but practice? something to think about.

Because if you haven't notice, America already has a ton of schools and such! Dumba**, people like you are so ignorant, you act like you ignore whats going on outside of the US. We are one of the weathliest countries in the world.
Africa barely has anything. No schools, the people over their starving and dying. I would prefer for the celebrities to adopt children from Africa, then for the children dying. But thats just me and my human emotions. I would prefer for a baby to have a home here in the US ~celebrity or not~ then to be buried from lack of nourishment... as in dead, if you don't understand.
Do you have an facts for backing up this statement that she 'supposedly' said? Or are you making this up just to start up somethng.

Oprah is past the point where she has to do the "IN" thing and she made that clear by her statement about not needing white's approval. Oprah is not racist. She loves her white viewers and appreciates their support in addition to loving her own people and funding a bigger goal.

I think its a good thing, better to be raised by a liberal American than an African of any sort _opportunity's galore.
By the way she can spend her money where ever she wants it is her money lose the entitlement mentality already. Now you go spend your money here or in Africa its your money your choice.

Poverty in the States is negligible compared to Africa. Any poverty occuring here occurs from gambling problems, crack problems, family problems or illegal immigration. The federal government provides welfare in such a way that no one in need of food and shelter misses out.
