We are a small non profit organization. I hold a senior level management position which could be eliminated. The organization is projected to lose over $1 million this year. They have asked for suggestion on eliminating positions. I currently have other job offers but would like a decent sererance package as I will go without insurance etc for 3 months and I will have to relocate. WHat would be a appropriate way to approach the subject and what would be a fair severance package? I am a sucessful member of the operations and am well respected and liked.

Boy, that's real big of you to offer to leave and save them some money but only if they give you enough money so you will not feel the crunch.

I think hoping for a severance package is a stretch from a non profit organisation. However, you would be in a better possition than I to know that. I think that i well thought out buisness like presentation of your idea would be well received and may well work as a springboard fro you into your next job, I mean who wouldn't want to hire an executive who has proven such dedication to the company as to propose the illimination of his own possition. It could also backfire and they agree with you that your possition should be eliminated, but since you've shown such selfless interest in the company, they fire someone less worthy up the line and promote you into his/her job. GOOD LUCK!!!

Wow! You are a very respectable person! Ask them to give you half a million dollars.
