My baby started Stage 2 at 6 months too, at her pediatrician's recommendation. (She started Stage 1 at 4 months.)
There are very few differences between Stage 2 and Stage 1 foods. Mainly, Stage 2 have more mixed varieties, like banana-strawberry-apple, are not as pureed, and have larger portion sizes.

Its absolutely fine. There isnt much difference between stage 1 and 2 except for the amount of food in the jar. My son started stage 1 at 4 months and stage two at 6 months and started table food with us a 8 months. As long as the baby is able to digest the food properly, he should fine. Though I have noticed some doctors just say NO about starting solid food early.

My daughter is 6 mos also and has been on solids for quite a while now. I started all my children at 3 mos. She now has been on stage 2 for almost 2 months and there is not a problem. As long as she can handle the thickness to it and still drinks her allotted amount of formula she will be fine.

I personally have found that the word "stage" means the quantity in the jar, not the consistency of the food. For example, I bet if you got a jar of stage 1 sweet potatoes, stage 2 sweet potatoes, and the big stage 3 sweet potatoes, they are all the exact same product just in a different size jar. So feed her child whatever she is ready for. My now 8-month old was eating, at 6 months, thick cereal and fruit for breakfast, veggies and fruit ("stage 2") for lunch, and cereal and veggies for dinner.

No, she is fine. Just make sure to watch for food allergies but introducing one new food (or ingredient) at a time. We did Stage 1 at 4 month, stage 2 at 6 months and are now onto ground table food at 9 months. This was under our peditrician's guide.

Remember that the the digestive system begins in the mouth. So without 4 back teeth to chew with, babies should never be introduced anything that needs to be chewed (as in the popular idea of "finger foods". Food that are not completely chewed already are dropped into the stomach and pushed thru into the colon without being completely mashed and processed which causes terrible pain. I would like to see parents who give solid foods swallow whole foods and see how they feel later. LOL Anyway, back to your particular question, if stage 2 is still pureed well, then you make up your own mind. You are a smart mother. The mother squirrel never has to be told not to feed its babies anything that would harm them. :) God Bless. Have fun with baby at every meal!

Provided your pediatrician is okay with it and your baby isn't showing any signs of allergies, I'm sure it's fine to start stage 2. My daughter is 6 months and we're just starting her on stage 1 but each pediatrician is different.

i love DT's answer!
just remember-- every baby is different! some people think it is fine for thier children(like myself) but other think that 2nd foods need to be intro'ed later. it all depends on how your baby is growing, maturing and responding to all of these new things!
i also have a 6 month ol and started feeeding her 1st foods at 4 months.
Good luck!

Well, if she is okay with them, you should be ok with giving them. You know your child best, so do what you know she needs.
