Whats the name of this movie?

IT has this Baptist guy from this place with a really long name in Tennesse, He is really poor and he joins the military in WWI or WWII. In the movie he is a great hero. He was in real life too. its an old black and white show. I think it was Sargent Andrews or sumthing like that?
