The megabits per second download rate of 12.0 Mbps is provided by your internet provider.

Even though your modem may be capable of higher speeds, your internet service provider won't/can't give you close to that.

Check your internet service provider for their limits. They'll usually say "speeds up to 3.0 Mbps (Verizon DSL)", or "speeds up to 15 or 30 Mbps (some cable companies & fios).

In the first place, you do not have a 100 Mbps modem. Its likely a a modem/router with 100Mbps switch ports. The speed you see is the line speed between you and the ISP

This is common misconception 100 mbps referring to its raw best situation speed not the Internet speed (this factors in noise and traffic) you are not being robbed.

because it doesnt matter the capacity of the modem what matters its the bandwith or broadband connection that youre using

time for a larger memory card "ram" card, or if your computer has 2 ram slots add a second memory card, easy do it yourself project
