My baby got her 4 month shots this morning. I have been giving her Tylenol every four hours - three doses so far. The doctor told me she might be fussy and feverish, but is it normal for her to be sleeping a lot, and not eating as much as usual? I will call the doctor's office in the morning, but I want to know if I should be worried tonight.

Not to worry, My baby slept so much after his I though something was terribly wrong, and called the doctor in a panic. It is completely normal for your child to sleep alot after shots, they are not feeling that well and it is their bodies natural way of dealing with the vaccination. It may even be the first time your baby sleeps through the night if they haven't already!! She should be fine, and it is also normal for loss of appetite, remeber that a vaccine is just a weaker form of the virus, so it can still make them feel lousy, and when you feel lousy no one wants to eat, they want to sleep;).....so try not to worry, things will be fine, and if you still feel uneasy in the morning give your doctor a call for reassurance!! Take Care, and enjoy, they grow up too fast!!

Those reactions seem normal according to textbook documentation of vaccination reactions in young children.
Ease off on the Tylenol, though. A baby's tiny liver is still not completely able to handle Acetomenophen properly.
The fever is caused by minor swelling of the brain, which causes discomfort or headache. Just try rocking your baby and offering milk or formula often. She should be feeling a bit better in 24-36 hours. Keep an eye on the fever, and call your Doc if there is any rash, fever over 100.4, skin pigment changes, lack of conciousness or vomitting.

The shots can make them sleepy and the tylonel too combined together and that is probably the reason. If the baby is tired it is not going to feel like eating, also you may notice a little ref welt in the morning it is from the injection which will go away in a day or so. If baby has anyting like hives or trouble breathing take her to the ER otherwise she should be fine.
