Oh yes you can win on defense alone!!

See the 2000 / 2001 playoffs and 2001 superbowl.

All you have to do is ask our starting QB (McNair) himself about the 2001 playoffs against Ray Lewis and the defense.

Remember, we won the 2001 superbowl with one of the worst QB's in NFL history -- winning 2 ROAD games in the playoffs -- all because of our DEFENSE...

The key was at least he didn't play like Grossman and give the ball away on interceptions and fumbles.

This year is DIFFERENT -- we have the same stellar defense, but we also have a REAL QB in McNair.

The only team that can come close to beating us is New England. Eveyone else we will shut down.

that they had and nonetheless do have between the final defenses interior the league. Their offense is falling somewhat short however. They lack a working back and that they can't get the job performed with a huge back. Ray Rice grew to become right into a mind-blowing %. yet he's only too small. i think of Flacco could be a mind-blowing, no longer great, yet good quarter back interior the NFL. dropping Ogden additionally will harm. He grew to become into between the final all time. finally, their receiving center is vulnerable. Todd Heap had a depressing 12 months final 12 months and he can strengthen. The Ravens do have means however. I see an 11-5 checklist for 09

The Raven's obviously are a good team but beating the Charger's will not be easy. If you recall the 16-13 game, the Charger's were firmly in control untill "Marty Ball" and ultra conservative play. Since this game San Diego has abandoned the conservative approach and is playing to win, not to 'not lose'.
The 16-13 game was also in Baltimore. I'm sure you know SD with the best record in football at 14 wins and two losses and has earned the 1st seed and will not have to leave San Diego. Playing SD @ SD will not be the same as playing them in Baltimore. San Diego also has a running back that has shattered a number of records and is reffered to as the best running back in football and the best tight end in football, combined with their solid defense and an all pro QB.
If we see a SD- Balt. matchup in the AFC championship game not only will it be an absolutely great game- but watch and see- people will call it the real super bowl representing the best two teams in football.

OK, let's look at reality.
Yes The Ravens hav a chance and they have a decent team, but I honestly don't think they have it all together enough to win it all. Sorry, but they have some issues.
The sexy pick is of course SD. But then again, SD would have to get past the Patriots.
Sorry Indy fans, Peyton will choke once again...well, ok, maybe not him alone, his D will do it for him.

If it comes down to SD vs NE, SD will have a tough time. NE did beat SD and Belichick knows what to do to win yet again.

The AFC will have the SB winner this year, no doubt. The NFC just plain stinks.

But truth be told, I'd love to see a Dallas/NE SB.
Think of all the side stories.

Bledsoe benched for a "rookie" again
Tuna vs Belichick
Terry Glenn vs NE
T.O. vs Samuel...again
Gramtica whom the Pats cut this year
...it goes on and on.

If so, I'd have to say the Pats would win the SB against Dallas.

The Ravens do have one of the best teams in the NFL right now. They have a solid offense and a great defense. Unfourtunately in today's playoffs a solid offense is often times not good enough to make it to the Superbowl. Most all of the other teams have an explosive offense (particuarly in the AFC) so how deep they go in the playoffs will be decided by their ability to step up and make plays on both sides of the ball.

I totally agree, when McNair got hurt a week ago I said "that's it the Ravens are winning the Superbowl this year". If you followed McNairs career, you'd have noticed that McNair plays some of his best games hurt and with a Defence like that you can't go wrong.

Well honestly no one is winning the Super Bowl, it's not being played at this time. But if you're asking "Will the Ravens win the SB?", I'd say no. I just don't think you can win with defense alone. They have a great D, but very little on offense.

My sleeper pick is a long shot.............the Seahawks.

You must be ingesting illegial drugs to think that !!! Then again what else do the Raven boys do besides kill people ??? Not gonna win it all, except maybe an award to the coach for using the most words to answer a question.

Although I respect your choice... it is blatant and stupid. Although Defense wins championships, offense gets them there. And the Ravens have Steve McNair (old has-been), and Jamal Lewis (jail-bird) is that the the making of a winning team, absolutely not. Now you may think I'm crazy but the the dark horse are the Dallas Cowboys, they may not be playing well right now but they are definitely the team with most potential and talent.
