Always take the smaller of the two numbers and times it by 100. then take that answer and divide it by the bigger number.

ie: 75 x 100 = 7500

then 750 / 200 = 37.5

Remember there are two questions u could get confused with. this one is asking for the actual percentage number ie: 37.5% and it could also be asked in a way where it says what is 37.5% of 200? the answer would be 75.
In that type of question the easiest way is to take the number and divide it by 100 then times it by the percent ie:
200 / 100 = 2
then 2 x 37.5% = 75.

.375= 37.5% or 37 1/2% (move decimal space over twice to the right to get the percent)

It is all about the wording to figure it out, of means multiplication and is means equals. For example, since we don't know what the percent is we will call it x. x of 200 (x times 200) is (equals) 75

200x=75
200x/200=75/200
x=.375
x=37.5%

Make the question into an equation.

n/100 x 200 = 75
n/100 = 75/200
n = 75/200 x 100
n = 37.5%

n/100 means some percent that you don't know
of means to multiply
is means equals

Basicly, translate the word equation into a mathematical equation. The term "of" is times, and the term "is" is the symbol "=".

"What percent of 200 is 75?"

Let the percent be x.

200x = 75

x = 75/200

x = 37.5/100

x = 37.5%

Answer: 37.5%
