You are playing God.

Well, for starters you would be saying that some traits (for example blue eyes and blond hair) are more desirable than others. That would probably cause people to look down upon people who possess the less desirable traits. Designer babies could lead to racism and prejudice. It could also lead to social problems. If most people in some society would prefer male children to female children, then there could be a shortage women. As a single male, I find that thought to be quite alarming. From some religious people's perspective, designer babies are contrary to God's will. If God wanted kids to have certain traits, He would give them to them. From a naturalistic perspective, mutation is the key to evolution. If people can choose the traits of their children and weed out mutations, then the human species might stop evolving. When a species can't evolve to meet changes in its environment, it will become extinct. However, I don't really see a problem with designer babies with regard to fixing medical problems.

None. Conception is conception. If this isn't true, then people should have a problem with each and every way there is to conceive other than simple sexual intercourse, because everything else is interfering with the "natural" course and "playing God".

And by the way, people, Frankenstein was the scientist and not the creature.

I'm a Christian and I know what designer babies are: they are tweaking the genetic code to get certain characteristics. The supposed religious problem is messing with God's things. I feel that would be cloning, but not mere genetic tweaking. Personally, I know that God is powerful to override what humans do, or even attempt to do. And if He doesn't like it to happen, He easily shuts it down, pretty mush like He did to German Nazism, for example.

Hi. Many, but even with moral ethics aside, natural selection is best left to the forces of Nature, not yuppies.

Designer babies? WTF?

Seriously . . . how screwed up is that?

How about just accepting what comes to you naturally?

If one fertilized egg is chosen, out of many, the other fertilized eggs may be destroyed, i.e. "murdered".
