Anyone have any ideas on how to find an old friend other than the pay sites? i have tried just googling and got nothing

I have found through experience that it can be difficult to find someone from your past. The easiest things that I have done to get in contact with old friends, and family members, is the following sites, some work really well while others not as much, but I have gotten into contact with quite a few old friends through these sites.
Myspace (requires membership)
yahoo members search
also try typing white pages into a search engine, try them, that way you can get the # and address usually
