unlike sammy versus snakes answer which is downright BLOODY rude and unhelpfull and HAS been reported......... did you definately reformat or did you do a repair? did you back up your files and then reinstall them afterwards and transfered the trojan back again? i would say one thing as advice.... Don't use IE7 which you say you don't now(well done) and if you are using yahoo now, can i assume that maybe you downloaded the software package from bt which includes it's own antivirus software which may be conflicting with your mcafee(bt uses norton and it is PANTS) ?
Just a few ideas that may help you

Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

I'd re-format again but after formatting your c drive, take out the ram and leave the pc unplugged for 20 mins before re-installing windows.
I've had a virus that stayed in the physical ram before, could be the same type.

This is what I would do. Disable Macafee.Go to grisoft download
AVG, shut your computer down.Wait a few seconds, turn back
on hit the F8 key,use arrows to move curser down,go into safe
mode open AVG scan computer.Delete fire that are scanned.
Don't foreget to get updates to AVG. THIS IS A FREE PROGRAM.

Internet Explorer? Mcaffee? You arent off to a very good start. What alert icon are you talking about? Sorry this is a little too vague to answer.

Did you re-do updates after formatting? You may not have the up to date security patches.Have you restored old back-ups of email. you may have brought an infection back
