Hi there

Do you like to visit a foreign country? If so, do you know the main things you have to take care of before anything else.

Passport, visa (if you need one), some countries require medical insurance, proof that you have enough money to travel, and an airline ticket. Oh yes - also your residence in the foreign country.

This would really depend on what country. First off, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic laws of the country you're going to visit and any safety precautions (if necessary), and of course, plan your budget. Mainly research flights. Are you going with a tour group or doing it on your own? With friends/family? Before you go you need a passport, of course. You can usually get a form from the U.S. Post Office. You need an ID picture. You can get this at various places; some Eckerdz take these kind of pictures. It's usually a good idea to register with the U.S Embassy before you go. You can do this online and enter your expected day of departure and return. You don't have to but if something happens they won't know where you are or how to reach you. Will there be a language barrier? You can't always find an english speaker especially in smaller towns. What type of currency? Where will you exchange it? What places will you visit? What type of transportation will you use? Really need more info or my list of possible answers could be pages... Anyway, good luck!

Ya I love it Travel all over the globe with my work (I'm in China as I type). As always you must be careful of rip off artists and unscrupulous taxi drivers. Do not trust overly friendly people. First is to make a couple copies of your passport and put them in a couple places where you won't loose them. It is a lot easier to deal with if your passport is lost or stolen when you have a copy of it. Second, travel with a major ATM card and not alot of cash, travelers checks are sometimes a hassle to cash. I use my ATM card all over the world, sometimes I must try a few machines to get one that works, save all the transaction slips.
