You will probably find a better deal at either:
Circuit City
CompUSA
Best Buy
Staples

Mainly because each of these stores routinely have rebate deals.
The deals cycle through all of the above stores so shop arround and wait a week or two.

Where you buy is not important as what brand and type (IDE or SATA).

Brands: No particular order
Western Digital
Segate
Maxtor

I have looked and cant find any walmart branded hard drives for sale at walmart. I do see drives from Western Digital and Edge. These are the same drives you would find for sale at Fry's, Best Buy, Circuit City and many other Electronics stores, so I would have to say that they are no more a risk then any other store.

TRUST me, you do not want to get a hard drive from Wal Mart. If you want to get get one, getit from a computer store, or electronic store like, Best Buy, or Comp USA, or even Micro Center, My friend just got a hard rive form a store like walmart, i think it was kmart or something, and as soon as he took it out of the box, a piece fell of of it, you can't trust cheap made parts for an expensive drive

Seagate Man, nothing beats their 5yr warranty. Buy a regular internal hard drive and buy a external USB enclosure. That way you save money and you get a wide choice of hard drives. Here is an example of an enclosure: http://www.computernyc.com/exusbhardriv.html
