Good day. I have a problem with my USB Enclosure. Within it is a 80GB Maxtor Hard drive. when i hook it up to my Laptop, everything is fine. XP SP2 Installed USB 2.0 Installed everything. It will recognize it as a disk drive on my computer. No problem but when i hook it up to other comps, will not recognize unless the USB Port is not 2.0. I will get the "This device can perform faster" popup and the computer will recognize the external hard drive etc but from the time i update the USB to 2.0, problem arises. Especially the "enhanced host controller" in device manager. It will only work when the jumpers on the hard drive is set on "Cap Limit" but usually the jumpers on my external hard drive is set on Master. What gives and thanks! Laterz!

Under "Cap Limit" comp will ask to format the drive but it already has information on it.

are you sure the usb drivers for 2.0 are installed. if not it will only work with the older usb drivers unless you update it first then attach the drive.

there is a difference in USB 1 and USB 2 the hardware is not the same and it will not work with drivers... so one of the computers is USB 1 and the other is USB 2... but it will still work so there is no problem... if the USB 1 is a desktop computer the you can install a extra usb 2 card, for around $10.00 it will solve your problem

but it still works so why bother. your not accessing the drive every minute your on the computer
