routers come pre-set with the power output set at the maximum db level...

what problems are you having?

Even though they may come preset with the maxiumum power output, you can tweak settings to improve range such as changing channels to see which one is right (1, 6, or 11 only otherwise you will get the opposite effect due to frequency spacing) and buying high gain antennas. If this doesn't help and you do not have a signal where you need it you can always buy a range expander/booster.
