Documentation is the key to your problem; we've had luck copying down the license numbers and recording the time of the occurance (usually the enforcement people - police - won't take much notice if the problem only happens during daylight hours unless some other infraction is also happening, such as speeding, running stop signs, disregarding red lights or similar law breaking actions are taking place), and reporting it to the authorities. However, that being said, IF the noise continues well after sundown or in the early hours of the morning, a call to your local police precinct can't hurt

hmmm, my Harley has straight pipes on it = really loud! They actually help me out on the bike, it might annoy the hell out of people but at least i get noticed by all the idiots out there. before I had the straight pipes I would get cut off and pretty much merged into on the highway all the time, this hasn't happened once since I switched the pipes. I would say the answer to your question about the bikes is when people stop talking on phones, putting on make up, reading the paper, daydreaming, having breakfast, and just generally start driving instead of multi tasking when driving then maybe you'll start to notice the bikes getting toned down again.
