I have a few issues, first is my back, recently my lower back has been hurting, i mean i can barley stretch my legs since it hurts when i bed down to them... any advice? i dont think its so bad i need a doctor... but its a pain to live with... next for about a couple months there has been a pain in my thumb, at the moment it feels fine but im always having to lift for football and such and work so when i put pressure/weight on it its starts to hurt and i have to leave it alone for a day or so before its good again... my coach said it could just be a bone bruise but almost 2 months after he said that it still hurts...

Your lower back could be sciatica. It could get progressively get more painful. You could see a doc and get physical therapy or a chiropractor. Both should do you some good.

About your thumb. I think amarie617's answer was right on the money. I've just recently had surgery for that. It's a painful condition. You can also try to stabilize you thumb for about 2 weeks and that should help with the tendonitis. Look for a splint at a drug store that immobilizes the thumb. It will help tremendously. If you see a doc for your back and go to physical therapy you can see him for your thumb as well. Physical therapy is very helpful for DeQuervain's as well. It helped me put off surgery for about 4 years. Mine was an extreme case yours may not be so extreme. A chiropractor can help as well, I've seen one for that too. Regardless good luck and happy New Year.

lower back isnt my area but i can tell you an idea about your thumb. People that do a lot of work with their thumb extending it a lot and using a lot of pressure with it sometimes get inflammation around 2 of the thumb's tendons. It's called DeQuervian's syndrome and theres a way you can test right now. Do something called Finkelsten's test. It's easy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeQuervain's_syndrome

Put your thumb in your fist and deviate your wrist like the pic shows. Extreme pain? That's a positive test. If its postitive or negative go to the doc. Anyway, thats just one possibility. If it's wrong, at least you can cross that off the list of what it might be! Good luck.

Why would anyone want to live with pain???? If you are involved in football you must be aware there are Doctors of Chiropractic used by professional teams to keep the players in playing condition.. They can't play with a low back problem.. so.. try it, you may like the relief. The thumb problem suggests you have a bit more than a low back problem but is still a neurological problem.. arising from the neck.

If you have no injury to connect with your low back problem, it is highly suggestive you have a defined postural problem which is also in need of attention.

I would say yes you need to see a doctor you never know what it could be. Even if it is stress you should get checked. You say it is a pain you can live with but it could get worse
