Are you also experiencing an increase in menstrual flow? If so it
sounds like you could have metromenorrhagia. It's a condition when your normal menstrual cycle (menorhea) is accompanied with an excessive amount of blood lost (menorrhagia) and uterine pain (metralgia). This is something that you should not take lightly. This condition could lead to anemia, which could cause fatigue, dizziness, headaches, insomnia and a list of other complications. It would be very wise of you to see a physician about this.
If you are not experiencing an increase in blood loss that's good. Your cramps are a result of water weight gain. Monthly your body retains water as it releases blood from your uterus. You can take something such as pamprin to help relieve the cramps it's also a mild diuretic which helps you to pass some of the excess water.

Mine were bad and after ruling out medical problems like cysts, tumors and endometriosis; I had an Endometrial Ablation, and although I still have some bleeding, I haven't had a cramp since!
This is only for women who don't plan to have more children!
Going on the Birth Control Pill really helped in my younger years!
Don't let it go untreated, and be miserable!

Sometimes your cramps are really bad, and it could be you are going to have a short period. Some people get cramps with long periods, and don't have them as bad when they have short ones. Every woman varies. Just take some midol, pamprin or advil to decrease the cramps, and take it before you come on your period next time to not get those nasty cramps right away.

It could be severe cramps. I used to have that happen all the time one month on, one month off. Though I was never sexually active at the time my doctor recomended birth control to regulate my hormones and period a bit better. It's helped SO much. It cleared up my acne too and made the cramps almost disapear. I occasionally still get tiny ones.

i read somewhere that sometimes one ovary is diff. then other. so u know how the egg comes out of a diff. ovary each month (1 month left ovary, next month right ovary)? it might be that one of ur ovaries just hurts more than the other one. I'm pretty sure that's normal, but u may want to have it cheked out by a doctor

there are a lot of things that could be wrong -- most of them not too serious. go see a doctor. they can rule out the really serious stuff or give you something to ease the pain, etc.
