Okay, can anyone help recommend any book that has fantasy and romance in them? I don't care if there are any other genres, but I like books with romance and fantasy. I'm not very fond of books that tell about guys; I like the ones where the girl is the main character ans she and a guy fall in love. :P Anyone?

Dresden file book series by Jim Butcher. There are 8 books in the series beginning with stormfront. It narrates the story of Harry Dresden, chicago's only professional wizard who works as a detective. He stands between the general population who is ignorant about the supernatural world and the monsters - vampires, werewolves, fallen angels, fey. He is aided by Bob,a talking skull.Karrin Murphy-a police officer and Thomas-a white court vampire.

Bitten and the other books in the 'Women of the Other World' series by Kelley Armstrong. It is about Elena, the only female were-wolf in the world.Don't forget to read 'Savage' and Ascension' and the other free ebooks from the author's website. They are about Elena's boyfriend Clayton and how he became a werewolf.

Another good series is the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. The books provide an alternate take on vampires.People who are unjustly murdered call upon Artemis(Greek goddess) and she grants them a day to avenge themselves. After that they are recruited to her army to fight against evil. These are romance novels.Best of the series are 'Dance with the devil' and 'Seize the night'.

Werehunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. The books in the series are Nightplay,Dragonswan,Stroke of midnight,Unleash the night. These are romance novels. You can read not only about were-wolves but also about were-dragons,were-panthers,wer... and were-tigers.The heros are handsome, powerful and with a mysterious past.Interesting reading. The best of the lot is Night play.

Dragonjousters series(joust, alta, sanctuary,Ayerie) by Mercedes Lackey. The setting is ancient Egypt.Hunger, anger, and hatred are constants for young Vetch, rendered a brutally mistreated and overworked serf by the Tian conquest of his homeland. But everything improves when a Tian jouster requisitions Vetch to become the first serf ever to be a dragon boy. His training is intense, and his duty clear-cut: to tend his jouster, Ari, and his dragon, Kashet. That is only the beginning. The rest of the books are about his escape to Alta, how the war between the two kingdoms is stopped etc.

Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini. When his best friend, a young clergyman, is killed in a mockery of a duel by an arrogant noble, just to quiet his eloquent expressions of democratic ideals, Andre-Louis Moreau vows revenge. From that point, through meteoric careers as a consummate actor and scenario writer, then as a fencing master, and finally a politician, the brilliant Moreau keeps thwarting the aims of the aristocratic Marquis de la Tour d'Azyr. However, the nobleman causes pain to Moreau as well, and the time must come when the two will meet to settle their enmity once and for all. You are not likely to guess how their confrontation finally turns out. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this swashbuckling novel is exciting throughout, and it presents one of the most dashing heroes in fiction, a man who can fight equally well with his mind, his mouth, his pen, and his sword, a man who stirs up events wherever he goes.

The Time-Master trilogy By Louise Cooper.(review from Amazon)The books are 'The Initiate',The Outcast and The Master. It tells the story of Tarod a fascinating anti-hero, evolving throughout the series from a loyal disciple of Order to the God of Chaos that is his true heritage, with the repeated examination of his humanity thrown into the mix.

Belgariad book series by David Eddings.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the Mars novels and the tarzan novels. There are 11 novels in the mars series beginning with 'a princess of mars'.Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army is whisked to Mars and discovers a dying world of dry ocean beds where giant four-armed barbarians rule, of crumbling cities home to an advanced but decaying civilization, a world of strange beasts and savage combat, a world where love, honor and loyalty become the stuff of adventure. The later books are about his son Carthoris, daughter Tara etc.John carter is a recurring character in all these books as martians live for 1000 years.

I second the Laurell Hamilton series. Anita Blake is a vampire executioner by practice in St. Louis, MO, and all sorts of creatures turn up. It's not your typical fantasy setting, but you know it's not for real - I mean they have a tourist attraction called Circus of the Damned where you can see real zombies and vampires! The sex/romance get heavier as the series progresses, like the other answerer said - at first, it's talked about, but nothing happens.

I've read a few by Sherilynn Kenyon that I liked. This is the Dark Hunter series. Again, fantasy -- though it takes place in New Orleans.

You might want to check out paranormal romances or time travel romances, too.

Terry Brooks has a series of books out (there are 5)

from first to last
1. Magic Kingdom for Sale. Sold!
2. The Black Unicorn
3. Wizard at Large
4. The Tangle Box
5. Witches Brew

They are mainly fantasy/adventure, but the main character finds a great love interest, and Brooks does delve into that a lot. Terry Brooks is a great master of fantasy...his books are very imaginative and well written.

The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley-about a princess who fights a dragon and there's a little romance

Lady of the Forest by Jennifer Roberson-more historical fiction than fantasy, a re-telling of the Robin Hood legend, Maid Marian is the main character

Maid Marian by Elsa Watson-another Robin Hood re-telling, however Robin's even less involved than in the previous one but the romance is very sweet

The Changeling Sea by Patricia McKillip-girl curses sea and releases a sea monster that turns out to be a long, lost prince

Green Rider by Kristen Britain-an exciting fantasy adventure with just a hint at romance

Check out Diana Gabaldon's series including the book "Breath Of Snow and Ashes" This deals a bit with fantasy and romance though to what extents I'm not so sure because I haven't read the series. I work at a library though and this is a popular one in both genres.

Laruell K Hamilton has a series of fantasy/horror vampire books where vampires, fairys and all the creatures you have ever heard of are real. The main character is Anita Blake a vampire executioner and necormancer. There pretty dirty minded later in the series but no worse really than romance novels.
