I think it is totally unconstitutional and should be illegal, it takes away the life of a person who is not yet living. Therefor they cannot make their own decision to live or not.

I totally agree with you! Abortion is murder!

Abortion is a picky issue, because of the time at which it is done. Early on, there is a conglomeration of cells, with the only difference between them and the tumor growing on my neighbor's leg is that the first has a higher chance of becoming something sentient later on.

This topic is also one that cannot be completely made illegal. There are too many 'What if's that can occur that would cause more harm than good. Such as, if the baby is born the mother will die or have severe, extreme complications, and then who would want to tell a child that their mother isn't around because she died giving birth to them? There's a definate possibility that the child will have problems thinking that they were the reason that their mother died, it was their fault. Other problems exist, but I will not mention them here.

Then if a law is to be made that restricts abortion, it would be quite an undertaking. To restrict the time of gestation at which it is done would be one of the only successful restrictions that could be made. Giving certain situations the go ahead or denial of abortion will lead to many needless court cases as doctors are tried for 'fetus murder' when they were misinformed by the patients (or were deliberately ignoring the law). This would cause a burden of the legal system, a burden of the medical system (as competent doctors (and otherwise) are taken out due to these cases), and must be realized.

And as abortion laws stand now, many people have problems with them. As the laws would stand under those same people, many others would have problems with those.

We need to find a middle ground between the two groups of thought, and work together to figure them out.
If nothing else, we can agree that we are not satisfied.
Constantly saying the same arguments for the complete domination of one group over the other does NOTHING to fix the problem. Seeing as abortion is legal, the side opting to make it illegal should come forward with workable ideas that would make themselves content and those for abortion content.

Yes, abortion takes away the right to life, is unconstitutional, and should be illegal. However, there is one thing you should think through a little more. Abortion actually takes away the life of someone who IS already living. Here's proof:

but this is the key thing here, "not yet living". if someone is not yet living then there does not yet exist a self awareness, and thus terminating the pregnancy would not result in any loss of life.

and ask yourself; is it fair on the baby to have it even though you cannot support/care for it, simply because you didn't want to have an abortion? i think not.

preventing creation of a vessel which will later harbour self aware life is surely essentially the same as deciding not to have children, which one could also argue "takes away the opportunity for life" as with having an abortion. if fate would have had it that you did not get pregnant, would this be considered wrong? the end outcome is the same as that for someone who did become pregnant and had it aborted.

my only arguement on the side of not having an abortion is that many people out there do want children and instead of aborting one could have the child and give it up for adoption, however the mothers connection often makes this difficult and if they then feel obliged to keep it, despite the wrong conditions for upbringing, then this would be an issue.

as a final point, do you really think a foetus is sentient or has any self awareness as soon as it has begun development in even embryonic stages? i mean cmon, at this point it is only a few cells and life surely cannot exist until the baby has matured enough to allow for the complexities of it

well... you could say masturbation and periods take away the right to life for all the sperm and eggs that are lost too... if you want to follow your idea farther...

it's really about "where do you draw the line"...

I personally draw the line at the point where the baby could survive on it's own... without the mother... before that, it's totally dependent on the mother for life, just as a sperm is dependent on an egg...

but, on a slight side note... I do think that lack of proper healthcare can take away the right to life for some in the U.S... because clearly some have died from not recieving preventative care, due to a lack of insurance...

Abortion is not unconstitutional. Even Justice Antonin Scalia has said that if state governments want to allow abortion in all circumstances the Constitution allows that. Please don't misinterpret the Constitution to suit your own ends -- the liberals already did that badly enough with Roe v. Wade.

Roe needs to be overturned, but doing so would only return the issue to the control of the state governments which is where it belongs. And certainly not all states would ban abortion if they could.

So what you are asking is, should the unborn child be allowed to live on welfare (which you pay taxes for), should the child be born into drug/alchoal addiction households, homes with domestic violence etc. Then there's the question of teen pregnancy from rape/forced incestual relationships, the contraception failing and so on.
No I don't agree with abortion when it is used indiscriminately as a birth control option but when it comes to other legitimate reasons this is a choice that is best left to the person involved.

Irregardless of the woman's situation, that little precious person in the womb is a living human being behaving as all living things behave. Murder takes away one's right to life. Abortion is murder. Therefore, abortion takes away the right right to life! We should all look in the mirror and consider how our lives began and ask ourselves where we would you be if someone had considered us a "clump of cells" that could be disposed of for expediency's sake.

Yes i do think that abortion takes away the rightto life.

There's an amazing verse in the bible about God knowing us before we were even conceived in our mothers stomach. or words to the affect of.

As a Christian, Abortion equates to murder - just because the fact that the baby is still in utero doesnt mean that its not living.

If its not living why does a baby kick?

I'm then asked What about if it was a rape baby should that person still keep it?

Theres a book called Startling Beauty by Heather Gemmen. Heather is a christian and writes about how she became pregnant after being raped and how she decided that she would keep the baby and how her husband came to terms with the idea of bringing up this child even though it wasn't his.

Yes its an extreme case and i know she's got the strength because of God - I'm sorry if its coming across like i am trying to ram a Christian opinion down all your throats i'm honestly not trying to be like that.

to end cos i just ramble plain and simple abortion is murder as life starts at conception - should i (i pray that i am not) ever be in the situation that i have become pregnant through rape, i pray that my fiance and family will still support me and stand by me because after all it's not my fault that i was raped, it's not my fault that the idiot who did it didnt wear (or it split) a condom, it's not my fault that i became pregnant. Pre-destination is a whole different subject but i believe that every thing happens because God has a reason for it - whether its to teach us a lesson (i do not in any way mean revenge) or just to change our human made plans for our lives.

It makes a lot of sense, those other people who said different are wrong. Why kill when you can put the baby up for adoption? Whoever disagrees with you is, has been, or will be a murderer. That child could save another person's life, become a peace bringer, etc.

No. Tell me, will you be in line to adopt one of the thousands of orphaned infants that will be available for adoption if abortion is outlawed? Or will you find a way to blame the liberals for not adopting baibes they didn't want in the first place? Let me guess, you think just dems and liberals get abortions right?
