can someone explain the ending of the film Descent......?

this is what happened everything in the film was true at the end when she left the philippine looking girl to take the stick from all the monsters.....

if you remember in the beginning the smart intelligent one who was reading out rule etc... said if we become dehydrated down here you will start to see things etc...... she fell got knocked out dreamed she left the place....etc

woke up and realized it was a dream then she imagined seeing her daughter and...where her daughter had died she gave up and sat with her daughter it was defeat dehydration and exhaustion that made her just sit there

Depends on which ending you saw. I'm assuming you saw the american version where at the end she sees whats her name in the car...Well, the movie is called "the descent" because the girl has finally reached the bottom in the descent of her mind and has gone crazy, even though she has escaped.

In the foreign version, she never makes it out of the cave.

Theres theories, you can take it two ways i guess , that the monsters were real , but sarah still went mad through it all n didnt escape (her back in the cave with her dead daughter after dreaming escaping n seeing junos ghost) or that there were never any monsters and sarah just went loopy down there n killed them all. great movie. but then i loved the directors previous film Dog Soldiers too.

I thought that the chick suddenly appearing at the car window at the end said something to the effect that she was part of a bigger scheme - she had set them all up for this trip and had some weird "in" with the cave dweller freaks. It still creeps me out, that ending. I had a movie hangover from that flick.

I'm not sure... The movie was good for a bunch of no names... I thought it was about creatures in a cave... then at the end the girl was in the car... after she was supposed to had been killed? I was like- What? Now its a ghost film?? But they probably just needed to wrap the movie up, so they put that lame part in....??

the blonde sees the ghost of the chick that screwed her life up sitting next to her in a car...I think if you had that many traumatic experiences(husband and only daughter killed in freak car accident, stuck in cave with blind flesh eating cave dwellers)..you might start seeing things too...then again maybe there will be a sequal where the ghost chick influences the blonde into killing and stuff...

She pretty much went crazy and she stayed down there. And I guess she either died eventually or she faught her *** off and got out eventually. No one knows. But in the end of the movie she was at peace. She "had" her daughter.
