I just got a hamster and I would like to know if you should give them a bath. Please only people with hamsters answer!

You shouldn't bathe a dwarf hamster in the traditional sense. These are desert animals that in reality would hardly see water. Give him a dust bath like you would a chinchilla. You buy volcanic ash at the pet store and a good idea is a glass fish bowl, something he can't physically crawl out of. Put some dust and hamster in there and you will watch him go crazy, rolling all around. This will help keep him clean. And if you really want a treat, give him a cricket or two and watch him hunt! He will love tracking, killing and eating crickets. A lot of people forget that these are voracious little omnivores. Your hamster is going to love you forever after this!

I gave mine a bath when I was a child and use to blow dry it on low and warm he lived a long time and didn't seem to mind it.

no they are desert animals, and if you give them a bath they could get a cold......

they are very clean animals (they was themselves) so definately there is no need to give them a bath.

You can give them one but you have to be really careful because you could drown them. It is best to use a wet/damp cloth and not a vat of water.
