All the outlet malls are in the far suburbs so it's a drive. I like the premium outlet mall in Aurora but that's about an hour away from Downtown Chicago. There are, however, outlet stores sprinkled here and there in the city. Three come to mind right now. One is the Mark Shale outlet on Elston near Logan Blvd. another is the Gap outlet on the corner of Milwaukee and Kimball and the Crate and Barrel outlet on Clybourn near North Ave (there are two Crate and barrels near that location within a block or two. One is a regular one and the other is the outlet). I'm sure there are more here and there.

Has anyone been to that mall on Cottage Grove Rd?
The ones I know are the ones in Gurnee (Gurnee Mills), Aurora (Chicago Premium Outlets), and Huntley (Prime Outlets-Huntley), IL and near Kenosha (Prime Outlets-Pleasant Prarie) WI. Not at all close to downtown, but, if you're staying at a hotel, there may be shuttles that run out there.
