Sort of. It did a number on Germany's economy and the Great Depression didn't help any. Also, the fact that they were humiliated by defeat also contributed. Because of all that, many Post-War Germans were looking for someone who could rebuild their economy and bring Germany back to its' former glory. That's when Hitler came into the picture, and the rest is history.

Yes. The French made unrealistic demands on the Germans after WWI. According to the Treaty of Versailles, the Germans had to pay back the French for all of the damages done in WWI. Plenty of destruction in WWI, over 1.4 million French soldiers killed, and 1 million English soldiers killed. The harsh French demands was too much of a burden and sent Germany economy nose diving into a state of deep depression. And was also a cause of the Wall Street stock market crash of 1929.
