I'm sure that everyone has some sort of fear of death, but in varying degrees; and we all handle it quite differently. You need to change your way of thinking. It would be a good idea to go to your doctor and ask to be referred to a psychologist or psychiatrist who can help you with your cognitive behaviour. The mind is a powerful thing, and we all have imaginations which can take us to extremes. I DO understand how you are feeling, have been there. Get help and advice please! I wish you all the best!!! :o) x

I wouldn't go as far as saying that I have a phobia, but I have certainly been bothered by this subject many a night. Sometimes it would stop me sleeping for hours. I know this sounds obvious, but the best way is to just think of something else. Think of something fun that you did last week, or a film you have seen recently. It really helps takes your mind off things. If it is causing you trouble for days though, you should go and see a psychiatrist, unload your thoughts to them and let them help you through.

And finally, and this may sound a little odd, but sleeping in silence makes it worse for me. If I leave the fan on at night it helps me to drown out faint background noises that sometimes trigger the thoughts.

I really hope this helps, and if not I hope you find the solution; I know how horrible it can be.

Good luck.

Honey, death is a natural thing in life, it's a natural process of pasing from this world to the spirit world, which is a much nicer place than here, I promise you. It's another world just like here but nicer!
The only thing I'm scared of is if I do evil things & then I'm worried where I'll go when I die (which I'm sure you're not, you'd have to be really bad to worry).Even then, i don't think there's a hell God wouldn't create such a place, the only hell is the one we're creating in this world by our badness.
Do you think who God created us as His children & loves us as a mother loves her child, would do bad things to us? I don't think so. They say death is like taking off a tight shoe, your spirit becomes free & you shed the body, that's all.Our body separates from our spirit when we die & we don't feel a thing, it's like you leave your body behind & go to another world.
If you don't belive me, see a medium (a geniune one) who can talk to spirits & the spirits are usually very happy, if you don't beleive in such things, at least take my word for it.

I wonder too about what exactly happens when I die, but there's not much I can do to change it, but do good things & watch what my actions so at least I know I go happy!
If that didn't help, then what exactly are you scared about dying?

Go and see your doctor and ask to be referred to a good Psychologist, though the waiting lists are horrendous with the NHS

Tanatophobia or necrophobia is the fear of death. I guess that everyone is looking at death as a jump into ...who knows??
When tanatophobia reaches extreme levels, like in you case, it is better to seek professional help of a psycologist.
