Daniel Philbin, from what I've heard, works at the Pentagon... How true that is, I'm unsure, but at least it's an answer!

I found a site that says, "He has referred to his son, born with serious birth defects, as his hero."
And as far as the Pentagon, Regis' son is high up in the Defense Department work force.

From what I can find they get along fine. Daniel Philbin works for the pentagon (started in college). He was born without both legs and some of his spine. Last thing I found of them communicating was in 2004 when Regis visited some injured soldiers at the suggestion of Dan. Below are links of Dan receiving a DoD award, Dan's Amazon book reviews (including one of Regis' books), Regis / Dan visiting soldiers, and the wikipedia article on Regis.
