in the cartoon series batman was put on trial in arkham asylum. in it the the DA who hated batman came to the realization that batman didn't exist until the villains came about.that the villains created batman. so unless Gotham becomes an utopia their will be a batman.

That's deep actually...especially for a six-year old.
I think you can take the easy way out and explain it's a movie/television show and that's the way it works, because people make it so we can watch it.
But, I think the larger question is about the nature of evil in the world. Batman, is the everyman, with no superpowers. He's a man who lost his parents to crime, and felt the need to dedicate his life to doing something about it. And, Batman, accepts that this battle is futile...but that that doesn't make doing it any less important. Your six-year old might be on the cusp of a major philosophical breakthrough here, and I think it's probably worth talking to him/her a bit to find out what inspired his question to begin with...and try to answer the question on that level.

Yes. It's quite simple, really. You just can't kill enough bad guys to create a void long enough for batman to have any vacation time. You kill the Joker, the Penguin rises. You kill the Penguin, the Riddler comes along. Once the Riddler is gone, his cat comes looking for the guy who killed the guy who fed him. Bottom line is that you can't please all of the people all of the time, and someone will always come gunning for you, especially if you're flamboyant and drive a nice car (see "Thou shalt not covet" in the Bible).

Gotham is so corrupted. There will always be a villian that needs to be brought to justice. And when comissioner Gordon can't get it done, he will always have .... the bat ... to fall back on. And why, you may ask? because .... I'm Batman!

The superhero companies make a lot of money off the villians as well as the heroes, so yes.

As long as the Batman merchandise/movies/comics/TV series can make money, he will have enemies to fight.
