Steve Yzerman is my very, very favorite athlete in any sport EVER. But even I know that he is not even in the top 5. Few people would put him above Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Howe, and Maurice Richard. Spot number 6 is much more debatable. Yzerman has to be right up there with Bobby and Brett Hull, Doug Harvey, Terry Sawchuk, Jean Beliveau, Mark Messier, and Ray Bourque... but I doubt most people outside of Detroit would even give him that 6 spot. So class act? Yes. One of the best? Yes. THE best? Definitely not.

Yzerman was a great great Hockey Player. But lets be serious the best ever? The best ever was Bobby Orr. No offense to you Gretzky lovers out there But Orr would have shadowed Gretzky!

Stevie Y was an exceptional player, but not even the best to ever wear a Red Wing jersey. That distinction goes to Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe.

No, that would be Wayne Gretzky. Quite blasphemous of you to say that Stevie Y is the best player. He is ONE of the best, but Yzerman (or anybody for that matter) can't hold a candle to Gretzky.
