If mountains are your primary reason for moving, I'm guessing Washington maybe your answer. Besides the Cascade range (also found in Oregon), we have the Olympic National Park/Olympic Mountains.

If you want to consider other factors though, Oregon may be a better choice overall. Lower taxes, growing economy, mild weather, more daylight hours, and less crime.

If you are still unsure, there is this great website I used a few years ago to help me decide which cities were best for me...here's the link:

Best of luck to you!

I moved to Oregon 18 months ago. The winters are long and gloomy, but from mid April to mid October it is very nice. Oregon has lots of mountains, I think Washington does too. Washington's winters may not be wetter or colder than Oregon's, but they will be darker longer and that can get a little depressing after a while. Two very cool things about Oregon: no sales tax and you don't pump your own gas.

If you like mountains move to eastern Washington. Eastern Washington has the most mountains and is very close to the mountains in Montana and Idaho.

Plus Washington has to income tax.

western Washington and Oregon-both rainy and you need to be ready for the foggy cloudy winters which cause depression called SAD. Both have beautiful mountains and scenery. Just find a place near one of those mountains since you seem to love them.

It depends. Do you prefer 11 months of downpours, or just 11 months of heavy rain? ;-)
