I had several Word Processor files on a floppy. Before I was going to burn them onto a CD, I tried to open them. It tells me the files cannot be opened. They are either corrupt, not supported, etc. Is there any reasonable way I can get my files back?

Take your disk to the local computer shop. Not Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, or any big name stores, but the one that has all the computer geeks in it. They should know how, or know someone who can retrieve those files for you. Otherwise if you don't want to do that, you should just throw all your floppies away, as they are of the past and unreliable.

Good day. Did u try to copy and paste them back onto the hard drive? If this does not work, go to my computer and right click on the floppy drive A and click properties. Click the tools tab and click error checking and chooze all options (surface data etc). It may take a while cause the floppy could be damaged. Good luck. Laterz.

You say, in your question, the files are corrupt.
Then you say they are either corrupt or not supported. There is a big difference.

If they are merely not supported, are you opening them with the same software, same version in which they were created? For example, a new program (like Word 2003) could open earlier files, but Word 6 could not open Word 2003.
