Once around will be 2*pi*R...

So 22 mph/2*pi*R = rev/time

first convert 22 mph to inches/min then the units will fall into place.

22 mph * 5280 ft/mile * 12 in/ft * 1hr/60min = 23232 in/min
23232 in/min / 2*pi*14in = 264.1 rpm.

the wheel has a circumference of pi D = 3.1416 x 28 = 87.9648 in

There are 5280 feet in one mile
there are 5280 x 12 inches in one mile
therefore: the wheel turns 5280 x 12 divided by 87.9648 =
720.288 revolutions in one mile

the wheel is moving at the rate of 22 mi/h
therefore it makes 720.288 x 22 = 15846.338 revolutions
this is the number of revolutions one hour

there are 60 minutes in one hour

so divide 15846.338 by 60 to get the answer = 264.10563 rpm

22 miles / hour
= 22 x 1760 x 3 x 12 in / hour
= 22 x 1760 x 3 x 12 / (60) inch/min

Circumsference of wheel
= 2 x (pi) x 14 inch

RPM
= [22 x 1760 x 3 x 12 / (60)] / [2 x (pi) x 14]

You need a tach. RPM is rotations of the tire per minute. It honestly has nothing to do with the speed you are traveling. For example, most vehicles do around 2,000 rpm at 55 mph but idle at 1,000 rpm which would be 0 mph.

22 mi/h
There are 60 minutes in 1 hour, so the latter is equivalent to
22/60 mi/h=11/30 mi/m
There are 63,360 inches in a mile so we convert to
11*63,360/30 in/m [inches per minute]=696,96/3=23,232 in/m

That was just converting from miles per hour to inches per minute. I really hope I did it right. Tell me if I didn't.

The radius is 14 inches. That means the circumference is 28π. In one minute, we travel 23,232 inches. That means in one minute, we travel 23,232/(28π) rounds, or 264.1 rounds.

That's 264.1 rounds per minute. ^_^
