Traditional waxing hurts. Shaving irritates the skin and makes it go spotty (which is painful). A decent trimmer will make it look nice, but will only trim the hair, not remove it. This is pain free, so might be a good option for you.
Sugaring is the best- it only pulls at the hair, not the skin. Google the web for a sugaring recipe. You can make it at home from sugar and lemon.
1) Cut the hair down short with a pair of scissors. Be safe, keep your full attention to what you're doing.
2) Start off just by doing your bikini line- don't go for a full Brazillian or Hollywood the first time you do this- if you're not used to the feeling of hair being ripped out in that area you will probably stop from the pain half way through. It doesn't HAVE to hurt, but if you are new at this and very hesitant, you may find yourself hurting yourself.
3) Before you begin, dust the area with talcum powder.
4) The best sugar recipes in my opinion are the ones that do not need the strips. You can simply roll out/stretch a piece of sugar-wax, push down, let it go hard and rip out! ALWAYS TEST THE HEAT OF THE SUGAR/WAX BEFORE YOU BEGIN! Take care and do not burn yourself.
5) As a beginner, do a small area at a time so you can develop a technique. If you have a partner, or a friend (you can trust!), you can get them to help you :-) It's far better to have someone rip off a sugar-wax/strip than do it yourself (because they can't feel what you feel, they are far faster at ripping it off- the key to an even smoothness!).
6) The area will be pink. Re-dust with talc and wear cotton undies till the skin returns to normal.
7) Exfoliate regularly to stop engrowing hairs.
8) Sometimes hairs don't seem to come out properly with the wax, but literally a small tug with a pair of tweezers will pull these strays out with no pain whatsoever.
Good luck :-)

Anything that is attached to our bodies would hurt when removed. Hence whether you wax or shave, it would hurt. Hair has no nerve endings and so like head hair which doesnt hurt when it is trimmed (not waxed), pubic hair also would not cause pain when it is trimmed. Trimming with a good trimmer to a level fairly close to the body, or carefully snipping with a pair of good scissors would be preferable if you want to avoid pain.
That said, do consider if it is really necessary for you to get rid of pubic hair. It has a definite purpose: aeration of the area, trapping harmful bacteria and dust from entering the vagina (in women), and absorbing sweat which otherwise would clog skin pores. Pubic hair is something that is out of sight and its presence shouldnt cause any offence to anybody except possibly a sexual partner, and that too for cosmetic purposes! It is said to interfere with oral sex but so does moustache and beard in men!
It is advisable to retain pubic hair, trimmed maybe but not totally removed. However, whether you choose to trim it or remove it totally, keep the area totally clean by washing with plain water and ordinary non-dedicated soap, like you would do your other parts of the body.

The easiest way to remove pubic hair Ive found is to use hair clippers (not your families) with an 1/8" attachment to take the worst of it off. This allows you to save alot of wasted time with an over clogged razor. Its good to use a tripled bladed razor with 'sensitive skin' shave gel and take your time shaving. Shaving against the hair growth will likely lead to ingrown hairs so shave downwards, in most cases this is the right direction.

Shaving,is really the only way for no pain.Nair makes hair remover for this but I have tried it and its not very strong. If you are going to shave there,I suggest useing a clean disposable rasor every time.Find a gentle shaving cream for sensitive skin.Do it right before you get out the bath so that the skin has had time to moisten.Use stort strokes in the reverse direction of hair growth, washing blade in water every other stroke.Just be careful and you can achive the results desired.

I don't think there is a way that doesn't have some measure of discomfort. Don't use depilatories (like Nair) because it could cause irritation. Waxing hurts. Shaving will do it, but you'll get lots of ingrown hairs and then you'll look like you have a disease. It also ITCHES like crazy when it grows back (I know...I did this once).
Laser hair removal maybe? That's expensive though. Sorry...I don't know of a thing!

Pubic hair is there for very good reasons. It acts as barrier to skin abrasions,it acts as a cushion that helps keep the skin and labia from being abraded, that means friction burns from your clothes or a " lover".it's also aides with hygiene, having to apply medicines to that area ,if rashes or breakouts occur,it wouldn't be pleasant ,it would burn like the devil .Think about it,the act of shaving can cause "razor burns" creams can cause rashes etc, SW RNP

Flush it down the toilet.
Oh, you meant removing pubic hair. Everything is going to hurt in some way, pretty much, but trimming it down with scissors and then shaving it carefully with a razor and shaving cream is probably the least hurtful way.

You are a mammal and you are supposed to have hair there-why would you want to look like a 12 year old girl again for? I honestly don't know how you would get rid of the hair. besides that it just looks so weird!

this may sound odd, but even pubs have a purpose especially if you are a woman. that said, you should probably shave it, use a really good moisturizing shave gel and go with the grain and go slowly. good luck
