Because society dictates sensibility of necessity. Imagine what this world would be like if everyone lived out their fantasies. This is why we have laws and structure. Good question.

Denounce religion.
It's responsible for most of the wars and terrorism on the planet.
That would be a 'sensible' thing to do as far as I'm concerned.
I see no evidence that 'man' behaves in a relatively sensible way.
Greed, and the lust for power seem to dominate.

Some are not so sensible. Think of the murderers, gang members, drunks even. What people do with their time here on Earth is almost totally up to them, not without some outside influence though. People are products of their environment.
