That isn’t even a question! I would totally go to Petsmart for fish! Wal-Mart has tons of other things to worry about other than fish! Fish at Wal-Mart come and go! They don’t care whether they’re pregnant, full of disease or dead! They just feed them and hope for the best! Heck once I went to Wal-Mart and they said they didn’t have any fish for sale because they all died!!!!!!! Petsmart doesn’t have as many things to worry about like Walmart! That’s the difference between the snail there and the snail in Walmart! Petsmart also has a larger variety of fish with cheaper prices! Heck-of-a lot cheaper prices im talking about seven dollar differences! Don’t get me wrong, though. Sometimes Walmart has some experienced personnel. I went to a Wal-mart once that had a guy (he was old) that sat on a chair and watched the fish all day and made sure they were ok! He even set up a tank only for baby fry!

Go to both stores and look at the fish, ask the employees question THEN DECIDE!! From my experience I have seen good fish at Walmart, the fish we have boought from ther are ALL still alive. We were told that the fish there always die, not true in our case. We may just have a good Walmart compared to what other Walmarts are like. I have seen tons of dead fish at our petsmart. I have told the employees there are dead fish in the tanks and they say ok and do nothing. We have purchesed fish from there too and they lived. They didn't always know what the heck they were talking about sometimes. Anyway look at all the places that sell fish in your area then decide which place has the healthiest fish.

Neither is good, I don't shop at either of them for fish.
They both give out very wrong information on the little tabs under the fish tanks and on their fact sheets.
Even at petsmart, the employees know nothing, they think they do, but they really don't. When I first started keeping fish I went on the advice I got from petsmart. Only to get home and do a little research in books and online and find out that everything I was told was wrong.

Walmart should get out of the fish selling business. Period. They sell sick fish and don't properly educate their customers on how to take care of the fish, because they don't know themselves. Do yourself a favor and find a local fish store that has personal service. You might pay a buck or two more for a fish, but they'll try to answer questions and help you figure out what's best for your fish. PetSmart is better than WalMart, but still a far cry from the service you can get from a dedicated Aquarium store.

Petsmart! Have you really looked at the walmart tanks? They are full of dead, half-dead, or diseased fishies. blech. You will spend less and make fewer drives to the store in the long run going to Petsmart rather than Walmart.
You can always hold off on buying your fish until you have some other errands on that side of town- then it's a bit less hassle.

Walmarts a great store, but shoping for fish at petsmart would be much better. When you go to walmart most of the fish are dead or on they way to being dead, 1 time i bought a upside-down catfish and when i got home it was dead, walmart also dosent have as much varity of fish petsmart does. Pet stores are better to shop at because they take better care of there the fish ect. than regular stores, 1 time at meijer we were looking at fish in a tank and i saw 1 fish trying to eat a fish that had died. Good luck!!

Everytime I have gotten fish at walmart they have died soon after. I'd go with Petsmart. Plus, the workers probably know alot more about fish than walmart people do
