Directly egging on the enemy to attack our troops? Does this compare to criticizing the War?

Bush's remark alone has maybe cost 1,000 troop lives by not just giving comfort to the enemy, but by "emboldening" and "daring" them to attack our troops.

What do you think?

It was a childish playground like thing to say. Much like telling Pakistan he was going to "bomb them back into the stone age" in 2001. Where is the political finesse in statements like those.

nothing wrong with confidence. at the time he had no idea that he would be at war forign terrorists and the american liberal machine since nearly every dem was casting their bring em on votes in favor of the war. the army that he was refering to was disposed of in a matter of weeks. the terrorists that would have attacked us here have been utterly silenced. the insurgents who resent our preventing them killing each other and american liberals are the only enimies left. it is hard to calculate how many iraqis and americans would have died if not for his bold action so supported by most everyone at the time.
interesting that he never recieved any public critisism for this statement until he apoligized for having made it. it aws in responce to the set up question of "what mistakes have you made..". the first time he was asked this he said that he thought that he had been doing well and the media had a feild day. when asked again and he came up with something the "in your faceing" started. it doesnt matter what he says or does, the liberal machine will oppose it. they dont even know what their own positions are until they hear what his are, then they oppose.
if bush decides that winning the iraq war was enough and we can relax on the war on terror and start bringing troops home they are all prepared to say "but we wanted to start the draft, increase the troops and win the war on terror", if he increaces the troops of course they are ready with all of the blood for oil talk. and naturally the worst option would be to stay the course.
in truth i dont know for sure if republicans would act any better if a democrat made such an apolige. i dont suppose we will ever know.

Bush's remark to "BRING EM' ON", together with calling the war against terrorism a "CRUSADE", saying "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" THREE years ago and a host of other irresponsible and STUPID remarks have made American soldiers the target of every insurgent and their cousin in Iraq.

BRING EM ON' was an enormous morale boost to the insurgency, and a blatant incitement for them to continue their CRUSADE against this American President and his cause.

Anyone on the receiving end of "Bring 'em on" is going to experience a surge of adrenaline, anger and aggression.

However, I would NEVER be willing to put a number on it; nor on criticizing the war.

He's allowed, he's "the decider" and he will decide what is proper and what is not. I think our President has no grasp of what he is doing and causing. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, that's what I think.

Would it be better for him to have said, "Iraqi insurgents, please don't attack our well trained, effective fighting force that occupies your country. It is for your own safety."?
