What would you do?
I've worked at my retail job for almost 7 yrs (I'm a manager now, 1 yr, full-time) and I feel it's time to move on due to scheduling ( I work graveyard shift) new management ( they want to change things) and just tired of being tired -lol- I randomly applied for a job( probally part-time) blocks from my home and thay callled for an interview, if hired should I leave my other job or take 2 jobs ( extra money would be good, but not in any finacial hardship)? I hate to leave my friends and current wages, it's so hard to move on. What would you do? Or have you been in a similar situation?

I have had two jobs before for a couple of months, so I think I can handle it, but it was hard being the new employee.

Don't leave your job until you have secured employment elsewhere. Employers want to hire people who are already working. Also your present employer could jepordize your chances of getting another job if you are no longer employed by them. Employers understand that you don't want them contacting your present employer and getting you fired for looking for another job. But they'll call your last place of employment if you no longer work there and your "jilted" job could portray you as less than desirable.

Move on. Retail is hard work with very little reward. You are now a manager and showed you can stick it out, so that looks good on resumes and interviews. Find another field that pays better and has better hours. I was in retail for years, then I got my insurance license. That was 10 years ago, now I have my own agency with 9 employees. Best decision I ever made.

The usual answer is do you like your work? Yes then stay,
and second of all is it the same type of work with better benefits
then move. Keeping a positive outlook is the solution. Have a
blessed 2007 , do not go into the double duty line, get some
good advice for instance memberships in supply savings for
your plan.

I was in retail for 14 years. I was in management for 5. I was working 230 11pm for 3 years. Holidays, weekends and nights were a normal thing. I got fed up and burnt out. fortunatley I was able to look for other work. I now work as a part-time receptionist and love it. I took a $7.00 pay cut but It was totally worth it. I am off every weekend, and holidays and get off at 245 everyday. If you can swing the change go for it. Don't get stuck in a job you are sick of...............There is something better for you out there!!
Good luck

If it suits your lifestyle to leave, then go ahead, sometimes change is good sometimes not. But at some point you have to move on, we all do- can't stay the same all the time.
