You can recharge the iPod.
Note: Make sure you try not to deplete your batter completely. You battery (iPod battery, cell phone batter, etc) are made up of Lithium Ions. They are a long lasting battery. However, it is not good for you Lithium Ion batteries to be 0% of 100% full for a long time. This kills the lifespand of the batter. If you are going to not use your battery, try to get 60% full. THis keeps your batter longlasting... Also, aviod humidity.

That means the battery is dead. There is no need to get a new battery, since iPods are rechargeable. Mine won't turn on all the time, because it's dead. When you let it charge, it sometimes will be so low that it takes a few minutes for it to start up and charge normal. So, no you don't have to replace the battery for an ipod unless its broke or you've had the iPod for years and it just wore out, etc. If it don't charge, then you'll know. I would think your songs would still be on there. That's a waste of time if they aren't, because most batteries don't last forever! =]

A quick charge for an hour will get you 80%, but to get a really good charge, leave it for about four hours connected to your computer.
