Simple, you knew the wrong black people and the right white ones.
Pretty much anyone who holds something against you for how you look short of a sign that says something, is a moron.
I'll given even the most miserable emo prick out there a chance, maybe it's laundry day and he had nothing but black, maybe he could only afford the fugly glasses, maybe he thought dying his hair black actually looked good. If all those happened to the guy, I'd be wrong in my judgment that he's a whiny little bastid. Of course, as soon as he goes full emo in front of me I just ditch the little idiot.

3 years huh? Perhaps you should try to develop a less superficial understanding of what constitutes racism.
Racism is far more than just not being friendly. It's charging someone higher interest because of race; not selling a house to someone or steering them to another area because of race; it's not hiring someone because of race. All those things still go on a great deal in this country and they're overwhelmingly directed at black people. And most of the people who engage in these racist practices are very friendly when they're doing them and they're overwhelmingly white people engaging in them.
As for forgiving "the past," maybe you don't understand that racism in this country didn't end with the abolition of slavery. There are few black American families who don't have living members who experienced the very raw hatred of Jim Crow racism. It's funny that of all the people of the earth, black Americans alone are supposed to instantly get over centuries of oppression. Trust and forgiveness take time and 40 years seems like a mighty short time to get over four centuries of racial tyranny. So it'll take more than just "friendliness" to make black people less wary and distrustful of whites in this country.
Black people are not more racist than whites. We just don't spend as much time trying to hide racial issues.

When you are treated bad for thousands of years and taken from your homeland and belittled just for being you whether you are minding your own business at the library or walking down the street, you tell me how you feel. Yes there is a time to put things to rest but how can it rest everyday people of color are marginised. Do you know how it feels to be looked down upon everyday to feel like your a criminal. The African American people have been put through hell and you think just because it is 2007 they are just going to do a dramatic 360. I beleive that African Americans are not more racist how can they be when people forget about them.

I'm white, but most of my best friends are black. I'm sure it is hard for them to forgive past hurts from the white race which we of today had no control over. It always blows my mind that someone can hate another person because of the color of their skin. If you must hate someone let it be for the color of their heart.

I have never heard a white guy say "why did not they". not that there's any thing wrong with that. Any way, as for black people, the good ones are some of the nicest people I have ever met. But the bad ones are the worst. Sorry that's just my opinion. I don't mean to offend any one.

Used to be that blacks could get strung up for any flimsy excuse. Now that they are beginning to enjoy social, political, and financial power there will be no more linching parties. Maybe they are just testing the boundaries, waiting for someone to tell them it's enough. i guess it is all part of human nature and they will eventually settle down once they are sure of their freedom.

That happened a few minutes ago. I'm not racist. You are for calling an ENTIRE RACE mean and arrogant. You just said I was mean and arrogant. What did I do to you?
Who is the racist in this situation? Me or you?

Too many excuses for not getting their share of the American dream. What's sad is that their so-called leaders, keep perpetuating myths and stereotypes. Bill Cosby has the right idea, though : Stop blaming everyone else for your problems.
It makes me laugh when people are literally dying to come here, and when they do, they work hard, and native-born Americans complain about their own perceived plight.
