Stacy is one of those ambiguous funny names like Pat (remember it on Saturday night live). It works anywhere, I know men named Stacy, women named Stacy and I've even met someone who's first and last name were both Stacy (yep it was a female and she married that.)

Well it is better than another person I knew Named Stacy Spacey. It was a guy and he was given that at birth. His parents should have been shot. Growing up he was known as Spacey Stacy and as a result he had to become a bully just to survive. Fortunately he was big so he could handle it.

When I think of Stacy, I'm just glad it wasn't my name.

From the Northwest but lived all over

I don't think state or region makes any difference, in this regard.
Stacy, is like Alex, an either or name, these days. But when I hear Stacy, I think female. My mother has a cousin named Stacy, in Oregon. She's a school teacher. I'm in California.

Hey I'm from Bethesda, Maryland.
Female;

I'd say that most people have answered Female, because they are more familiar with people their own age, or people that they know named Stacy. On TV shows and media sorces, they have heard Stacy reffering to a female. Although Stacy is a name that could go either way, people think of it as a female name because they know a female Stacy, but not a male Stacy.

Either. It's a 'Lynn' -- probably female if young, but still quite up in the air.

And: Ontario, Canada. Kudos on adding the 'where are you from' to your question; that should be more important to people when picking names, especially for something like this. The other question here might be 'about how old are you?' too -- I'm going to guess many people over 50 would say 'male,' and under 25, 'female.'

I think of this guy:

Not exactly sissy-looking.

And a 'Stacie,' female, that I went to school with.

Washington DC here.

I think female when i first hear it...

But I have known a male named stacy. I think thats how he spelled it too. I think females can spell it stacie and get away with it but a male can't.

I'm assuming you know someone named stacy that is a male, which means there are at least 2 males named stacy, unless we know the same stacy (possible but not likely). Based on this I think it can be a masculine name.

I tend to refer the name Stacy as a girl's name. That may be because I've never met a man named Stacy. Also the song "Stacy's Mom", has had it's affect on me. I'm from Arizona (Western region).
