Usually this is something that is not practical to ship. It means you have to pick it up.

Yes, the seller wants the item to be picked up from their home/storage rather than posting or sending the item....it saves postage and packaging and insurance, especially if the item is large.
We did that not so long ago. Bought a cooker hood from someone who lived reasonably close to a friend down south. They picked the item up for us and I collected it from them a few days later when I was down in the area.

Yes, it means that you would have to pick it up from the person. I would imagine you could arrange for a friend to collect it or even a courier on your behalf. I would could ask the seller before bidding.
