I want to get my driver license but I've had some problems in the past. I was 15 and I didn't have a license. A cop stopped me and gave me a ticket. I went to court and never paid my fines. Then I got in an accident and still no license I was 15. I never showed at court. Then when I was 17 I went and got my ID with no problem I was told by people that I could probably get arrested I didn't. So now it's been almost five years and I've called to see if I have any kind of warrants or fines and they can't find anything but I'm still afraid to go and try to get my license. What should I do in this situation?

To all the stupid people out there. I was 15 and yes very irresponsible but now it's been 5 years later and I've tried resolving this issue but don't know where to start. If your going to say something stupid keep it to yourself!

I was driving underage because I had to have a job and I never had enough money to pay for a driver course and get my license. And then I didn't show to the second court date because my father passed away so everything was ****** up and pushed aside.

Your best bet is to simply go to the DMV. They will not arrest you on the spot, but can tell you EXACTLY what you need to do to clear past violations and proceed with getting a valid license.
Good luck!

No record of traffic stops or citations issued to minors stopped with no DL are kept. They are not within the scope of the Department of Licensing law unless they caused an accident. A minor with no license can not be held lible for breaking a traffic law. (you will never see this on the evening news)....most states. California may be different, they are not normal or reasonable. Kids really need to learn their rights..

If you can pay the fines, call an attorney, and have them make arrangements for you to do exactly that. If you are over 18 now, your record may have been buried due to the underage complications. It will definitely show up on someone's desk at the most inconvenient time.

If you've called then why worry? Call again and ask and then tape record them telling you that you don't have any fines or warrants...that way if you do get arrested, you can go to court and play the tape.
It's entrapment if they say you don't have any fines or warrants and then you come down and they arrest you because you do. With proof you could get off free and probably sue them and win.

The fines are probably still out there. But they may have dropped them if it has been 5 years.
So, go try for a license.

You dont deserve a license. I ddont want to share the road with some one who cant even follow basic laws... You get a license I suppose you'll be driving around a jalopy with no insurance too, right?
Driving is a PRIVLEDGE, not a RIGHT.

Just go, you were a minor then and if they had anything to arrest you on you would have been in jail years ago.
