As of 2001, there were only 5 cities with a population over 10 million, and apart from Sao Paulo in Brazil (South America) and perhaps Moscow (arguably in Europe or Asia depending on the definiton you have of the continent) the others are in Asia: Bombay in India, Shanghai in China, and Seoul in North Korea.
And just to ensure the complete victory of Asia, any change that could have occured in the last 6 years is likely to have permitted cities with a population of between 9 and 10 million to reach 10 million, then the 2 cities over 9 million are also both in Asia (Delhi in India and Karachi in Pakistan). Asia also has 4 of the 6 cities then between 8 and 9 million.

We need an international defination to define a city. Using the modern definition of an agglomeration or metropolitan area, there is a good website www.citypopulations.de which has them all listed down to 1 million.
There are 25 cities of over 10 million, 14 of them in Asia, 3 in North America, 3 in South America, 2 in Africa, 2 in Europe and one, Istanbul, which sits astride two continents, though most of it is in Europe.
