Talk to your doctor about him inducing the baby. This brings on labour contractions and hence an artificial labour.

There are some great responses here. Whatever you do, try to avoid induction. That usually leads to a ceasarian birth, which is also something you want to avoid.

My kids were all late. My first was 9 days past the due date and my other two were both about 2 weeks past the due date. All were born healthy with no complications.

I was 11 days late with my first and 6 days late with my second. My sister is always early. It just depends. That baby will come when it wants to. Even though I got negatives for posting a response about having sex to start labor I am offering it to you as a suggestion if you want the baby now.

Your baby will come when it's ready or when the doctor decides it's time. You can go up to 2 weeks past your due date. No fun huh? Happy New Year.

You did not do anything wrong it can be completly normal to go into labor up to two weeks after a due date if you are still not going into labor at that point they would most likely induce you I hear that this is more normal for first time pregnancys

First, please note that you aren't actually considered overdue until after 42 weeks. If this is your first child, it is perfectly normal for it to be longer than 40 weeks, most first children are. Here are some things that have been proven to accelerate going into labor. Walking, having sex, or nipple stimulation. I have also heard that castor oil works, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Due dates are just guestimates. The best way is to just wait for your baby to come out when they're ready! There are risks in inducing labor. So don't risk it!

We live in a rural county. My wife was a week late so we "ran the back roads" which is to say we took on the unpaved bumpy, pot holed back woods roads. Guess what, two days later, she gave birth to my first child, a girl named Maureen. She is 14 now.

ask the doctor about inducing . I was 2 weeks late with my first. (preg now with my 3rd) and well when i was preg w/ my 2nd i was late and my husband said... call the hospital and tell them you fell down the stairs , should they be worried. (i didnt of course) so.. i did. they said to come right in to check me out, and said since im late on my due date they will just keep me there and induce me. and thats what happened. its funny to me. i wanted the baby out asap, so i did what i had to do. or..u can just wait for the baby to come along. best of luck to you! :-)
