There are 12 basic notes in the ionian (our) musical scale. There are thousands if not more chords.
For Rock music there are 2 main "chords" which are really triads (not even that normally), they are major and minor.
Most rock can be played with a simple 1, 5 power chord...meaning 5th fret on the E 7th on the A string. That "power chord" can be moved around.
Typical rock progession is 1,1, 4, 5... or a variation thereof.
Yes, it's really that basic.

the " basic" notes are A, A# B FLAT, B, C C#, D FLAT, D, D# E FLAT E, F, F# G FLAT, G, G#, A FLAT,
chords for all those notes, minor and majors 3rds fifths sevenths, ninths, elevenths, thirteenths, add notes, ( B add C), augmented, arpeggios, and a lot of stuff im sure ive forgotten

There is about 30 Notes on a staff the Treble clef which is what you are intrestend goes( Eb, E, F#, F, G, G#,A, A#, B, C, C#, D, Then its that over and over Agian)
