They're starving to death?

Other than that I can't even begin to figure that one out. I wouldn't worship ANYTHING other than GOD.

Actually they hold all animals as sacred. They believe ( I'm only a casual student so Hindu's feel free to correct as needed) that the lifeforce you come are reborn into depends on what you did in the previous life. If you came back as a cow you were nearly at the top of the spirt hiearchy , if you came back as a dung beetle....well you were naughty. after so many reincarnations if you follow the laws etc you reach Nirvana and become enlightened.

I studied Buddism and Hinduism simaltaniously so I may be mixing the terms a little but the gist is there. Hope this helps.

In a cultural context , I'm sure they find it odd that Christains worship a demi-God born of a human who wasn't immortal but was murdered. ...no flames please just showing that all beliefs need to be put in context.

Don´t be so narrow minded, it is not actually a cow they´re simply worshiping, it´s indeed the principle it´s image stands for: Nourishing, live giving, womenhood, etc... It´s something as the creative power incarnated, therefor it´s a very important God, for it manifests all characteristics a Creator/God should have. Isn´t it obvious? Regards, Gabriel. Ps. Why would anyone worship a bearded 33 yo deseased fellow for so long just in account of ancient tales?

If you are talking about Hinduism, they do not *worship* cows per se, but they do revere them as being the vessels for the spirits of their reincarnated ancestors. Why they would choose the form of a cow to reincarnate in is a mystery to me - I would pick a bear, a lion, or an eagle.

Because it produces milk as woman do, and some women feed their children with cow's milk, but not all of them. Smile.
