Outfits can always be brightened up with accessories, but if you are really stuck for ideas, try going to these sites:
www.asos.com (my personal favourite because the prices range from £1 to about £250, very good value clothes of all styles in there.)
www.ebay.co.uk (YES!! There are some amazing clothes in there with next day delivery abailable!)
www.girlprops.com (Some really cool accessories in there, a very nice site but there may be problems with delivery if you live in the UK)
www.jessicalouise.com (Some of the stuff there is amazing, but with a bit of a punky edge, not your average clothing.
www.punkyfish.com (Again quite punky, but I don't know your style so I cannot recommend very well sorry :( )

I'd suggest going to the site of a store you know well. You want to be sure you know which sizes will fit properly. I'd go with a simple outfit: a classic dress or slacks with jewelry or other accessories to punch it up. Consider a dark dress and a simple jacket or sweater to brighten it a bit. Perhaps you can look through whatever accessories you have on hand before shopping.

Alternatively, think about borrowing something from a friend or sister. It's a great way to save money and get something special to wear! Also, you can probably try it on well in advance and still have time to buy online if it doesn't work out! Good luck...

Just a little advice: Don't worry about "impressing" the in-laws too much. You obviously don't want to look like a slob, but you don't want to over-do it either. A little black dress with one of the following is always cute: Necklace and bracelet, scarf, belt around the waist etc. Have fun at the party!

You are painfully close to your deadline. I suggest you borrow from a friend. Or go to your closet and remake a something old into something new. Use your imagination. Figure out the look you want and create with ties, scarfs, beads, pins, feathers, ribbon, leather scraps.......... dojn't be afraid to glue something.
have fun!
