1) For any number w, let w be defined by the equation #w#= -[w^2(w-1)]/ What is the value of -1?
w= -[(-1)^2(-1-1)] = -[1(-2)] = -[-2] = 2

2) IF a= -1 and b = -2 then 2a^2-2ab+b^2=
2(-1)^2 -2(-1)(-2) +(-2)^2= 2*1 -4 +4 = 2

3) The lengths of the leg of right trinalge PQR are x and y. The lengths of the legs of right trinalge RST are 2x and 2y.
a)Find twice the area of PQR
b) Find the area of RST

Area PQR = (xy)/2, so twice the area is xy

Area of RST is (2x*2y)/2 = 4xy/2 = 2xy

2. First: replace -1 with the "a-variable" and replace -2 with the
"b-variable" >

2(-1)^2 - 2(-1)(-2) + (-2)^2

Sec: solve according to order of operations >

= 2(1) - 2(2) + 4
= 2 - 4 + 4
= -2 + 4
= 2
