Although I feel Saddam was a sorry excuse for a human being, I don't feel it's appropriate for his death to be broadcast and displayed the way it's being done. I feel the person filming the footage should be held accountable and it pathetic that this person is profiting from one's death. If anything, I feel this footage has opened up a whole can of worms thus causing a lot more problems in mending the situation in Iraq. My heart goes out to those who suffered at the hands of Saddam's regime, and more importantly my heart and prayers to out to the service men and women trying to protect this country and are having to deal with the reprecusions of this mess.

Saddam was a mass murderer. If somebody who suffered under his regime recorded his death, I am actually grateful. I do not see the harm. The official video has to be released eventually, because Saddam was a head of state executed for war crimes, and his death must be witnessed by many.
It is easy enough to criticize the poor etiquette of the witnesses to the execution, but they are nothing compared to the crimes of Saddam. I think they can be forgiven.
The person who made the video will probably be discovered.

please be respectful of people you do not know and most of all you do not know their real intentions. having said that -- Saddam's execution is a historical event and should be recorded for its good or bad effects. I pass no judgment on its effect. History will be the real judge. But for a leader of a country that left tens of thousands "dead" --in the last quarter of a century -- the humanity has a black record because of him. Back to the original question -- the person who had the courage to take the video is not a hero nor a villain. He did what he felt should do at the spare of the moment -- since the showing is plain amateurish. I rest my case so should you and let the viewers and historians pass judgment.

In this age of technology, of course someone filmed it. I don't think it's stirring up trouble at all. If someone doesn't want to watch it, they don't have to. As far as the person being found, I'm pretty sure the others there remember the dude holding up a cellphone. I doubt it's a big issue seeing as they have public executions in Iraq.

Why should we give fame to a person who apparently takes pleasure in other people's demise? Sure showing it on the internet is meant to stir your emotions, maybe even rightfully, so that the world can see the atrocity related to the condemned. On the other hand, these freelance voyeurs don't realize that these images also affect the minds of the little persons who may happen to cross paths with either a tv or a pc!

If it wasn't him taking advantage of a moment in history which shows Vengeance towards Saddam, it would be another. Passions run deep on all sides in Iraq. It's doubtful the gov. of Iraq would divulge the source, since everyone at the hanging would be marked for death for participating.
Lets hope this phase will die down in a month, so the next phase can begin... what ever that will be... God forbid!

I think that it was a "planned" accident. It was meant to prove that Saddam was executed without the government coming off as being inhumane.

I think capital punishment is barbaric and is just another act of violence. That being said, I think Saddam was a evil person and should have been confined to solitary confinement - for the whole of his life - food and water thrown into him through a trap door and no human contact.....what so ever. I am not surprised that someone filmed it and they will probably find out who did it but not reveal their identity.

He probably won't get an Academy Award for the production quality, but you know the Iraqis knew he was doing it....this way they can't take the blame for filming it and releasing it. He was probably paid a bundle to do it for them.....
